Town Hall Meetings On Medical Marijuana Announced

Amendment 2 Public Town Hall Meeting on medical marijuana

Greater St. Louis NORML has scheduled two open forum discussion events to educate Missouri voters on the medical marijuana initiatives that will appear on the November 6, 2018 ballot.

Missouri voters will be presented with three medical marijuana initiatives on the ballot. This will be an unprecedented event.

Never before have voters in any of the other 30 states which have already approved medical marijuana had the opportunity to pick from three medical marijuana initiatives at the polls. Missouri is the first state in this situation.

More than 700,000 signatures were gathered by all the initiative campaigns combined and represents 12% of Missouri voters. It is an indication that a strong block of Missouri voters believe medical marijuana should be legalized.

Earlier this year, a Quinnipiac University Poll showed nationwide voter support for legalization of medical marijuana at 91 percent. Public opinion in Missouri falls in line with the national averages for medical marijuana.

Greater St. Louis NORML has received many questions about the ballot initiatives. In order to understand these widely differing initiatives, a public town-hall forum is the best option to find out the facts. Two amendments will change the constitution and a third initiative will only change state statute.

What are the differences in the initiatives? Which initiative will be better for Missouri patients? How will Missouri laws change? How will the manufacture and sale of legal medical marijuana affect our cities and neighborhoods? These are the types of questions many voters are asking.

Our panel of experts will help voters find the answers to these questions and more. The public is invited to these two open forums and anyone can attend.
