This latest endorsement signifies strong support among patients for Missouri becoming the 31st state to allow medical marijuana. Missouri will be able to vote on the medical marijuana question on November 6, 2018.
The Epilepsy Foundation of Missouri and Kansas endorsed New Approach Missouri on August 22, 2018. Their endorsement indicates a strong support among advocates in the healthcare community that Amendment 2 is the best way forward for patients and providers that want medical cannabis as a treatment option.
“As an organization who dedicates itself to bettering the lives of those living with epilepsy, advocating for expanded treatment options is very important to us. We believe that if Amendment 2 passes, Missourians who live with epilepsy as well as other debilitating ailments will have an additional tool to control their seizures,” said Darla Templeton, Chief Executive Officer for the foundation.
The Epilepsy Foundation of Missouri and Kansas is a not-for-profit focused on improving the lives of those living with the disease by accelerating therapies to stop seizures and finding cures. Epilepsy is a chronic and crippling neurological disease affecting every 1 in 100 people in the United States.
“While 30 other states allow patients suffering from epilepsy and other debilitating diseases to work with their doctors to determine their best medical treatment option, Missouri continues to lag behind,” said Jack Cardetti, spokesman for Amendment 2. “We are thrilled that the Epilepsy Foundation has endorsed Amendment 2 so that patients get the compassionate care they need.”
