Missouri’s Article XIV allowing the medical use of marijuana has ushered in a new set of rules for Missouri doctors and patients. Many Missouri healthcare providers have yet to accept or incorporate this non-traditional, medicinal plant into their treatment regimens.
Federal marijuana prohibition still casts a long-shadow over hospitals and medical groups. Medical organizations still block their affiliated doctors and staff physicians from recommending medical cannabis.
If you consider a more historical worldview, the use of medical cannabis is more “traditional” than the relatively new western practice of allopathic medicine. Western culture largely favors use of synthetic pharmaceutical drugs and not plant-based medicines. For more than 30 centuries in non-western civilizations, cannabis was used to successfully treat all types of human maladies.
Pratistha Strong, DO, is a licensed Missouri doctor based in Kirkwood, Missouri. “My worldview encompasses the East and the West,” writes Strong. “I was born in Kathmandu, Nepal. I moved with my family to the United States at the age of six. I incorporate the philosophy that one’s mind, body, and ātman (Sanskrit: inner self or soul) need investigation when approaching one’s health.”
Dr. Strong is a dedicated osteopathic physician who uses her Eastern principles and incorporates them into her daily life and encourages her patients to do the same. She is also a strong medical cannabis advocate and utilizes Ayurveda in her practice.

Make your appointment as soon as possible. There are only a few appointments times available during the week at Dr. Strong’s office. This “Early Bird” offer will fill up fast.
“I know the holiday times are hard for finances and family and health,” offers Dr. Strong, “That is why I want to offer my patients first notice of the special that I am running for cannabis.”
This offer is for certification only (not diagnosis). Here are the following conditions to qualify for this special:
1. You must fill out all paperwork for my visit BEFORE you come. You will need to print out the forms and have them filled out. You can find all forms here:
Make sure if you have Medicare, that you fill out the opt-out form as well.
2. You must bring existing paperwork from your current doctor(s). Examples: chart notes with diagnosis, health summary, prescriptions from pharmacy or doctor, prescription bottles, and/or any imaging reports (no discs) as well.
3. This is for certification of disease only, no diagnosis! I am a primary care physician. I can make diagnoses for general health conditions that I feel are within the scope of my practice. Please make an hour visit with me if this is the case for you!
4. There are no additional discounts for this special.
5. You will have to make your own follow-up visit (hopefully with me) in 11 months from the day we meet for an annual re-certification. My usual fee of $100 for 15 mins (with a 20% cash discount).
6. All appointments made outside of the Dec 2019 window will be cancelled, so make sure you make a December visit!
