Counting Down to Election Day
As the month of October arrives there are 37 days remaining on the calendar before election day on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. As September 2018 fades into history, so has the appeals process for Brad Bradshaw in his lawsuit against the Missouri Secretary of State to toss Amendment 2 off the ballot.
On Tuesday, September 19, 2018 the Missouri Court of Appeals Western District affirmed the decision by Cole County Circuit Judge Patricia Joyce to dismiss the case brought by Bradshaw against the Amendment 2 petition backed by New Approach Missouri (NAM).
“But the fight isn’t over,” wrote John Payne, Campaign Manager for NAM on the organization's website, “This fight goes all the way to Election Day.”
“At this point in the campaign, it’s all about reaching as many voters as possible” continued Payne. “We have a strong field team, but we also need to reach voters in their homes and on their phones, computers, and tablets.”
NAM is actively soliciting funds to launch a media advertisement in the final push before election day. “Without this ad and others like it, we may come up short in the ballot box.” Help the campaign for Amendment 2 with your donations here.
Bradshaw Is A No Show
In an effort to educate Missouri citizens about the three medical marijuana initiatives facing voters in the Show-Me state, organizations across the state are inviting representatives from each medical marijuana campaign to town hall meetings to discuss the three initiatives in open forums.
The Bradshaw organization is batting 100% at not showing up at these events. On September 26, 2018 on the campus of the Missouri University in Columbia, the Young Republicans student group held an event “Blowing Smoke: Forum on Missouri's Marijuana Ballot Initiatives.”
Jack Cardetti, Spokesman for New Approach Missouri, was the only representative from the three initiatives to show up for the event. Representatives from 'Finding the Cures” (Amendment 3) and “Missouri Patient Care” (Proposition C) were absent from the debate.
A similar scenario unfolded in Pulaski County at an event where Bradshaw was a no-show for their event. Similar reports from other public meetings were posted on the Patients Against Bradshaw Facebook page. NAM seems to be the only campaign open to public debate thus far.
