New Approach Missouri Announces Campaign Kickoff

Missouri cannabis activists are rallying support for the new 2018 medical marijuana initiative. A statewide signature gathering campaign is now in full swing following kickoff events across the state.

Medical Cannabis Initiative 2018-51 was approved by the outgoing Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander on December 30, 2016.

New Approach Missouri immediately put the wheels in motion to start printing thousands of petitions needed for distribution to volunteers across the state. A simultaneous fund-raising campaign was also initiated to keep the momentum going for the next 18 months.

“Last night, New Approach Missouri Volunteer Coordinators Blake Bell and Bonnie Boime and I all simultaneously signed our 2018 petition,” wrote John Payne, campaign manager for New Approach Missouri, in a communication on January 18, 2017. Now that “the first people in the state,” have signed, continued Payne, “we are eager to put petitions in the hands of trained volunteers and kick off the signature gathering campaign statewide!”

The first of four petitioner training and signing events have already been scheduled in the state’s largest metropolitan areas.

A kickoff event is scheduled in Saint Louis: Sunday, January 22 at the Crown Room of the Schlafly Bottleworks, starting at 6:00 p.m.
