Down to the Wire

Signature gathering volunteers are urgently needed for Missouri's statewide general elections for local offices and issues on Tuesday, April 3, 2018. This may be the best opportunity to get signatures of registered voters as they visit the polls.

NAM's goals are clear. More than 22,035 voter signatures are needed to ensure success. The remaining signature breakdown looks like this as of March 27th: Saint Louis: 10,464, Kansas City: 6,350, CD4: 3,801, CD7: 1,420

“Our challenge is staffing as many of those locations as possible,” offered John Payne, campaign manager. “We need your help to make the most of it!”

NAM volunteer coordinators are ready to find any volunteer a good location to work on election day. Special training events are scheduled for those who need training on April 1, 2018 including:

Saint Louis: April 1 at the Schlafly Bottleworks, 3:00-5:00 p.m.

Saint Charles: April 1 at Picasso’s Coffee on Main Street, 3:00-4:45 p.m.

Contributions are still needed to reach NAM's $6,000 fundraising goal for the first quarter to keep the campaign rolling forward. Contribute now to make legal medical cannabis a reality in Missouri! Donate Here.

GSTL NORML Earth Day Volunteers Needed

In just about three weeks the gates will open to the largest Earth Day celebration in the St. Louis metro area, April 21 – 22, 2018. The annual Earth Day celebration is also Greater St. Louis NORML's most profitable fundraising activity of the year.

We want you to participate by helping us run our booth as a volunteer during this two-day event. Pick your time and date and help us spread the word about ending cannabis prohibition in Missouri.

GSTL NORML has new hemp t-shirts to sell, new lapel pins, imprinted lighters and papers, and a host of other items for sale. The sale proceeds help with running our events, attending festivals, and basic operations for the remainder of 2018. Sign up for a 2- or 3-hour slot, or more at our open Board of Director's meeting Monday April 2nd, or general chapter meeting on April 9, 2018. We can use the help, and you'll have fun the entire day.

GSTL NORML Campaign Challenges Missouri Cannabis Prohibition

On March 16, 2018, Greater St. Louis NORML (GSTL NORML) launched a public interest campaign with a series of billboards to engage the public about marijuana laws and public policy.

A digital billboard on I-44, near the intersection of S. Kingshighway Blvd., displayed the first of several planned advertising messages designed by GSTL NORML board member Cecil King. Each image will display for eight seconds and can be scheduled throughout a 24-hour period.

Originally designed to promote Board Bill 180, legalizing adult cannabis possession of up to 2.0 ounces and cultivation of 6 plants, GSTL NORML Board members dropped that reference for a more general message to end prohibition. In the city of St. Louis, Board Bill 180 was successfully killed in the first session of 2018 by the Legislation Committee Chairman.

When city legislators return from spring break recess in April, Alderwoman and Board of Alderman Presidential Candidate Megan Ellyia Green plans to resubmit BB180 with key revisions.

Meanwhile, GSTL NORML has raised several hundred dollars in donations as the billboard campaign launched. The GSTL Board of Directors will continue running these digital billboards as long as funds are available. A social media campaign will allow Missouri cannabis activists to select the next billboard design. Chapter members, friends and family can donate $5.00, $10.00, $20.00 or more at www.GreaterSTLNORML.org/donate to keep the campaign alive.
